How to Build a Haircare Routine That Actually Works

Between 12-step routines and conflicting advice on social media, haircare has become unnecessarily complicated. The truth is simpler: cleanse properly, condition strategically, and protect consistently. Here’s how.
Step 1: Cleanse — Match Your Shampoo to Your Scalp
Your shampoo cleans your scalp and your hair, not the ends, and can be a two step cleanse Oily roots need our Purifying Shampoo (Wattle Seed) followed by the shampoo needed for your hair type. Dry or sensitive scalps respond to the Hydrating Shampoo (Waratah Leaf). Colour-treated hair stays vibrant with the Repair Shampoo and its Bond Repairing Therapy. Lather at the roots and let the suds rinse through your lengths — that’s all they need.
Step 2: Condition — Ears Down Only
Apply conditioner from your ears to your ends (mid-lengths to ends). Our scalp/roots produce their own natural oils. Leave the conditioner on for one to three minutes, then rinse. For blondes, our Blonde Toning Treatment tones and hydrates in one step.
Step 3: Treat — Weekly, Not Daily
Swap your conditioner for a treatment once a week. Our Miracle Treatment begins repairing hair in one minute using Kera-Diamonds to nourish, smooth frizz, and add shine. It’s the single most impactful step you can add.

Step 4: Protect — Every Time You Style
Heat damage is cumulative and largely irreversible. Before any tool touches your hair, apply Affinage Thermal Protectant — our Thermal Activation Technology with Marula Seed Oil shields up to 230°C and adds a UV filter. Our 24/7 Heaven Cuticle Sealer can also be added to fine and medium hair as a thermal protectant.
Step 5: Finish — The Professional Touch
A few drops of Luminous Drops serum through mid-lengths and ends adds shine, controls frizz and protects against the environment. Keratin Amino Acids and Linseed Oil make it lightweight enough for fine hair, nourishing enough for thick textures.

The best routine is the one you’ll stick to. Start simple, stay consistent, and let the products do the work.
