We announce the talented winners of the 2020 iteration of the annual Photographic Colour Competition, rewarding those who executed the brief of inspirational colour accompanied by exceptional finish and style in the best way. The looks were created to reflect current trends and innovative styles, pushing the boundaries and being fueled by the passion for creative hair. This year’s winners in all three categories exemplified these traits with their motivational looks.

Decided by a judging panel that included Jo Cowan of INSTYLE, Linda Woodhead from Mocha Publishing, Nicole Healy AKA Melbourne Hair Blogger and Australian influencer Shauna Elizabeth, the panel deliberated over an impressive group of winners before deciding on the final scores.

“We would like to congratulate everyone who entered particularly in light on the COVID virus and how difficult these times are,” the CEO Richard Jolly said. “ All work submitted was of exceptional standards and we’re excited for our 2021 competition next year.”

Congratulations to the winners. For the main prize of Overall Winner of the 2020 Affinage Professional Photographic Colour Competition, ANTHONY BAYER of Anthony Bayer Hair Salon, Auckland New Zealand won for an artistic, multifaceted and trending peach pixie cut with subtle undercut details. The look presented an editorial flair as well as offering an edgy, captivating style that could be wearable as well.

In the category of 2020 People’s Choice Award, PIA LANE of Pia Lane Salon, Brisbane, took home the prize. Her look showed off a bold patterned technique within a brunette hair look, with dynamic colour tones of yellow, green and pink expertly weaved into the hair design.

The 2020 Emerging Artists Award, as voted by the judges, was won by SAMANTHA WARD, whose colour transformation with subtle peach tones and a flawless styled finish showed enormous skill and creative potential.
